Sustainable Materials
Think Green. Rethink Plastic Decoration. The use of sustainable decorations and materials has long since gone from being a nice-to-have to a must-have. The entire industry is rethinking its approach—and becoming increasingly eco-friendly. Resource conservation, recyclability, and energy efficiency are driving production and design. As a result, sustainable substrates and natural fiber composites are becoming increasingly important. KURZ is making a decisive contribution to this trend with surface aesthetics that combine sustainability and style.
Sustainable materials – sound arguments:
- Inspiration for new material concepts
- Wide range of design options – great creative freedom
- Efficient use of resources

Material innovation: EcoLayer FX
Sustainable substrates take both design freedom and high ecological standards into account. EcoLayer FX enables high-quality design effects on plastic materials such as polypropylene (PP) mixed with cellulose, limestone-PP composite, or talc-reinforced PP compound. The surface designs can be realized without compromising on processability or appearance—for new, sophisticated styles. The ultra-thin decorative layer is finer than a human hair. Processing and specifications? Similar to conventional plastic solutions.
Advantages:
- Decoration for plastics with natural additives
- High-quality design effects
- Ultra-thin-layer decoration
- No compromises in terms of processing or appearance
- Compatible with existing machines and systems
- No extended cycle times
Green Design: Natural Fiber Decorations
Once a hidden champion, now a design hero: natural fiber composites are stepping into the spotlight—thanks to special decorations that give even large NFPP components made of natural fibers and polypropylene (PP) new finishes. Processing takes place in a production-ready process: Under heat and pressure, a resilient matrix is created in less than 65 seconds, in which natural fibers such as flax or kenaf are visibly integrated. This structure not only gives the surface stability, but also a warm, organic feel. For added aesthetics, sustainability, and efficiency.
All-rounder: aesthetic, lightweight, and stable
Natural fiber composites are extremely versatile — they can be used for laptop covers or speaker housings, for example. Plain-colored surfaces are just as feasible as patterns, individual images, or multicolored gradients. The components are stable yet up to 40% lighter than comparable solid plastic solutions. Its good mechanical and insulating properties combined with low density make NFPP an attractive option for many products – especially since complete recycling is possible with the right choice of materials.
Natural Fiber Decorations:
- Surface decoration for natural fiber composites
- Warm, organic feel
- 25–40% lighter components
- More stable than injection-molded parts
- Smart decorative elements can be integrated
