Fuerth and Duesseldorf, 24 October 2007: The stamping foil manufacturer Kurz will be demonstrating at K 2007 a range of new and improved hot stamping machines.

Roll-on stamping of conical and cylindrical parts

A new addition to Kurz' machine product range is the CHS-25, a peripheral roll-on machine for hot stamping conical and cylindrical plastic parts (e.g. mascara bottles or lipstick tubes). This fast-running stamping machine is characterized by its high output and can be easily adjusted to different degrees of conicity (changes in diameter of the plastic part). Additional features include a space-saving, compact design and a smooth part-transfer system - an especially important feature in the cosmetics area.

Servo-controlled vertical stamping

The new SHP-20 vertical stamping machine is equipped with a servo-driven stamping head. This enables the stamping process to be regulated and monitored largely independently of the tolerances of the stamped part. The required process parameters (stamping force, stamping temperature and stamping time) can be set to precise and reproducible values, and part-specific parameters - once determined - can be recalled at any time. This feature saves machine setup times and achieves process reliability.

Stamping of large areas using the roll-on process

Large-sized lettering and oversized logos are becoming more and more fashionable as design elements, in particular on plastic containers like tool boxes. Kurz seeks to accommodate this new trend with its new PGF machine.

This machine enables large-size lettering and signets to be stamped using the roll-on process. The vertical stamping process imposes limits on the size of the area to be stamped due to the risk of entrapped air or defects in the stamped image. The new PGF roll-on machine, equipped with its special, engraved stamping wheel, offers a solution for these applications.

The PGF can be equipped with a heat transfer foil feed and can therefore process both single-image foils and continuous foils.

Three-dimensional hot stamping

The pneumatic 3DHS hot stamping machine is equipped with a special 3D stamping unit that enables parts with mildly 3D geometry to be decorated. This stamping process can provide an economic alternative for uncomplicated plastic parts that previously needed to be decorated using the inmold process.

New generation of foil feeding units

Kurz has improved its foil feeding units for the Inmold decoration (IMD) process. The new IMD-MK/S series for processing single-image designs offers a substantially increased feed rate while retaining the precision and functional reliability of the preceding series. Depending on the application, part geometry and foil used, the IMD-MK/S supports a maximum feed rate of up to 500 mm/s while, at the same time, achieving a positioning accuracy of +/- 0.07mm in the x and y directions.

The MK/W series for processing continuous designs has been  fitted with the same user-friendly controls that were previously only available in the single-image processing series.

Visitors to K 2007 can experience these new machines in action at the Kurz Stand A 19 in Hall 5.
