Inmold Labeling for challenging applications

KURZ has developed a new area of application for Inmold Labeling (IML). Our IML foils enable to realize previously unseen designs using an established decorating process. IML technology has been used over the years to decorate high volume plastic packaging such as yoghurt and drinks containers, margarine and ice cream

tubs, paint tins and washing up liquid bottles amongst others. This process offers a competitively priced solution to provide sophisticated packaging design. The opportunity to quickly change design at no extra cost is an additional process advantage when compared to alternative printing methods.

Extraordinary IML designs made possible

Use of KURZ IML foils allows one to benefit from the aforementioned advantages whilst at the same time putting completely novel designs into effect. It is possible, for instance, to transfer a full range of authentic woodgrain effects including african mahogany, golden beech and cherry plum. It is even possible to replicate

the specific grain on the wood's surface. Carbon designs as well as a variety of metallic looks are also possible. KURZ IML foils give surfaces a deceptively realistic aluminum, titanium, chrome or stainless steel look. Foils are offered in a variety of satin finishes and grades - either with a tactile brushed effect or a genuine brushed look with a smooth surface. Foils with holographic depth may be used as well as those with woodgrain or metallic designs. KURZ technology makes it possible to produce inmold labels with striking holographic designs. Full surface decoration is achievable regardless of foil design - even if the part to be decorated is not completely flat. Our wide range of high quality IML designs open up decoration possibilities as yet unknown to the user. Whether decorating a tray or table set with an upscale walnut design, a jewelry box with a rosewood lid or a

container with an expensive looking metallic look, KURZ IML foils will enhance products cost effectively. The procedure is also perfect for branded goods such as perfumes and spirits to economically benefit from a sophisticated look.

The Inmold Labeling process

The Inmold Labeling process involves foil, made of the same material as the plastic part that is to be decorated, being endowed with a design. Next the Inmold Labeling are applied by injection molding with liquid plastic. A total bond is formed between the foil and the base material so the injection molded part leaves the mold as a finished decorated product with no further manufacturing steps being necessary.
